Camp HudsonView: A Cozy Cabin With River Views

calendar.png

Dizzying views of the Hudson River! Sweet cabin modest in scale, simple and pure so to not detract from the richness of the views and offers a fresh, invigorating sense of “just what is needed, nothing more.” The cabin was designed and hand crafted by its owner during the winter of 2017. The rugged primitive siding was harvested from on-site cedar trees, and the knotty pine interior was locally sourced. Friends gifted a claw foot tub and historic farm house sink.

The living room offers incredible views of the Hudson River and the meadow below. There are leaded glass windows in the bay window, a large comfortable vintage sofa and simple decorations. The bedroom offers a queen bed with duvet covers and beautiful east facing views of the Hudson River. There is an antique vanity with vessel sink, antique oriental rugs and Asian artwork. The bathroom has a claw foot tub with shower hoop and glass vessel sink. There is plenty of hot water, towels and soap. The kitchen is fully stocked with stove, fridge, microwave and sink. There are beautiful copper pans to cook with, plates, glasses and silverware.

A great deal of thought and energy went into planning this cabin. Like a tree grabbing a roothold in the slope, reaching down for water and minerals and arching up toward the available sunlight, a house must begin and grow from its site. When the design of a house has grown out of the uniqueness of the site, it will seem as natural and as integral a part of the whole as trees are a part of the forest. When the house becomes a part of the land, the site can be fully inhabited.

This beautiful cabin is located hundreds of feet above the Hudson River and offers dizzying views and great privacy. The cabin is not set a top the highest point of the land, where it would be fully exposed, but partway down, allowing the woods behind to form privacy and to shelter the house. Gaze out at the wildness of the site from a sheltered spot. Enjoy spectacular views of the Hudson River, a cedar forest and wildflower meadow.

There is a fire pit with Adirondack chairs. We provide dry firewood and kindling for our guests. Stargazing at night is amazing as there is no light pollution.

Summers are wonderful with cool mountain breezes, nearby lakes and the Hudson River to swim, bathe or fish in. Fall is glorious with all the trees turning color.

As for things to do in the area, there is white water rafting in the beautiful clean Hudson River right at the bottom of our hill offered by various kayaking companies, hiking spots galore, a nearby gorgeous completely undeveloped lake called 13th Lake, dining in North Creek or nearby Garnet Hill Lodge and great daytrips to nearby Lake George, Blue Mountain Lake, Lake Placid and such.

Enjoy a hot tub experience! Built within a beautiful Japanese temple-like structure on one of the most beautiful spots of our land, our all natural no-chemical hot tub is a delightful way to start your morning, relax after hiking or winding down after dinner. Available for a private experience for $25 per person for an hour of wonderful relaxation. Let us know if you would like to book.

Join us for wood-fired pizza! On the upper portion of our land off Cemetery Road, we have a wood fired pizza oven. Here’s how it works. We make and provide the dough, and guests bring their own toppings. We fire up the wood-fired pizza in the late afternoon. By six, the wood fire has died down and the oven is about 800 degrees. From six to seven-thirty, guests come to the pizza pavilion with their toppings and we help them cook their pizzas. Because the oven is so hot, the pizzas cook in about three minutes. Lots of fun! Requested of donation of $8 ($5 for children) for firewood, dough and maintenance, please. Let us know if you plan to join us.

This property is located at the end of a quiet country road and abuts forty acres of land owned by your host where we offer glamping tents and two other cabins. Please take a look at these listings and reviews to get a better sense of what we offer.

The property is an easy scenic drive up 87 from NYC. If you arrive late, the house will be unlocked and lights on for you.

Since 1910, my family has owned 8 acres of land on the upper part of the land. When my great-grandparents built the original camp (Bird Camp), there were gorgeous views looking all the way down to the Hudson River. Then when people stopped owning grazing animals, and as it then became expensive to keep the meadows mowed, the trees grew up and the views were all lost.

When 32 acres of land below us became available several years ago, with financial help from my brother, I purchased the land and over several winters, I had the property strategically logged to open up again the beautiful south and east facing views of Gore Mountain, Moxon Mountain and the Hudson River below.

Originally I intended to return to my former business life I'd led downstate and to build vacation homes for sale. As things have worked out, my plan now is to build simple beautiful rental cabins and retain the property for retirement income, and so that I might leave an income producing estate to my daughters.

I had an amazing winter of 2016 and 2017 building this camp. By December, the framers had completed the structure, the windows were in and I was able to keep warm with temporary heat all winter as I spent months happily finishing the inside of the "camp."

Now I am approaching completion of this special little house and offering it to folks coming to vacation in the Adirondacks.

I've had more fun building this house than a human being should be allowed!

My friend and I stayed here for three nights in November and did dayhikes from the cabin. There are so many beautiful places to explore nearby. At the end of every hard hike it was a joy to relax in this beautiful cabin with such a great view.

My boyfriend and I spent the weekend at Camp Hudsonview and cant recommend it enough! Leslie was amazing - super friendly, great to talk to, a wonderful host. The cabin was very clean and included all of the amenities! Very cozy with lots of big windows and a beautiful view of the Hudson River and the mountains, incredible sunsets - the perfect retreat for a weekend getaway! Also, very dog friendly so my Frenchie really enjoyed his stay, too! Thank you so much, Leslie!

What a swell place! Beautifully furnished and situated above the not-so-distant upper Hudson River (which you can actually gaze at through the windows or from the chairs and firepit behind the house) it has all the coziness of quintessential mountain cabin comfiness, AND the design/layout/construction all seem new and are extremely well thought out and aesthetic. I love especially the beauty and usefulness of the higher pine wainscoting with all those shelves, I wanna put those in my house right away!

Leslie's cabin was an amazing place to stay at. The view from the place is awesome and you get a really outdoorsy feel staying at the Hudsonview! Leslie also responds to any questions you might have had as quickly as she can. Definitely would go back.

The best Airbnb I’ve ever stayed in. The cabin is so calming. With views in every direction. Just north of the town of North Creek, which I’ve been going to since childhood. Love stopping in cafe Sara for their blueberry scones and sitting at the Hudson River. If you want a real Adirondack experience away from tourist industry, take this cabin. It is just what you want to unplug. WiFi to communicate with outside world. No TV (my preference). The living space is quaint with a window seat and comfortable sofa, a small table placed at the window with a view of the Hudson River. Wake up to the sunrise out the bedroom windows and screens that let you hear the critters. This cabin is an ideal artist get away — a real writers retreat. Incredibly clean and worth every cent.

This place actually exceeded our expectations, which is hard to do for us. It was incredibly beautiful, the views and the fire pit, everything all set up for you to enjoy! We loved the way the place was decorated, so many thoughtful details, and while it was incredibly clean, it also managed to be homey at the same time. Can't say enough about it, we will definitely be back.

The Hudsonview cabin is the perfect little getaway if you want some real peaceful quiet time with an AMAZING view. My boyfriend and I stayed at Leslie's place for a few nights In October and it was just perfect. The cabin is so cute and comfy with amazing views from every window. We made a fire both nights and we just stared out Into the mountains for hours. P.S the place is fully stocked with wood cut and ready to use. Leslie was a great host always ready to answer a question right away. Make sure to check out Garnet Hill Lodge up the road also for another amazing view !

Camp Hudsonview has extraordinary views that made everything about this cabin perfect. We thoroughly enjoyed the fire pit and the privacy the cabin offered. We also loved having a kitchen to cook our meals and a table that looks out towards the mountains and Hudson River. Outdoors activities are all very close by! Leslie's dog Sammy was an extra treat, as she came the day before we left and didn't leave our pups side until we left! Overall, we had a great time and loved the property!

The cabin was gorgeous and very comfortable. I lOVED the window seat-it was great for morning coffee lounging. The surrounding grounds were beautiful/view breathtaking and you're close to some great hiking spots. Secluded for an escape yet close enough to the capital district to leave post work. Leslie was available at a moment's notice and very warm/welcoming. I definitely want to return.
